I think one of the most common misconceptions that I’ve heard about people who take part in personal growth programs such as those offered by Landmark Education is that are inward-looking or narcissistic; in short, that they are “all about me”. I think quite the reverse is true – Most people I’ve met who take these programs are intensely interested in other people and making a difference in the world, and that any ‘work’ they do on themselves simply clears the way to impacting the world in a positive way.
I saw a great quote on a blog that made this point perfectly. It said:
“I am reminded that my work is not about me, it is about those who I inspire. For all of us working in environmental health education, it is not how hard we work, but how much we inspire and motivate our audiences so they can transform their environments and improve their health.”
This post is written in the context of talking about Landmark Education and showing an inspiring video by Ben Zander – Take the above link to the blog so you can see it there – It’s definitely worth watching if you haven’t seen it already.
